| Our Journey... | |

In 1986 Kim & I were married at Onward Gospel Church in Verdun, Quebec. Before our marriage, however, we both felt God leading us into mission work in an African country. Kim grew up in an unsaved home in Verdun, and always had an interest in Africa. After high school Kim worked for the Bank Of Montreal in their head branch. During her years at the bank God used her Christian uncle to help Kim come to grips with the void that was in her life. After her conversion Kim attended Onward Gospel Church and grew in her new found faith. Because of her hunger to know more of what it means to be a Christian, Kim advanced quickly in her faith. In the meantime I was studying at Briercrest Bible College with the desire to serve God overseas in an African country. During my summers I would head out to B.C. and plant tress for the B.C. government. This allowed me to put my way through Bible school debt free! PTL for that!! After tree planting I would head back to Verdun for a few weeks of holidays at my parents home. It was there that God allowed my path to cross with Kim's path .. and the rest is history!! From 1982-1992 my parents served as the managers of the CLC bookstore in Montreal. Prior to that my parents had served 21 years as missionaries in the country of Guadeloupe and 3 years in the country of Reunion. Before their retirement my mom worked at the SIM office in Toronto and my dad worked at Scott Mission in the downtown sector of Toronto. My days as an MK definitely prepared me to have a balanced Christian world-view and a burden for the lost! In 1989 God confirmed to both Kim and I that He was calling us out of Canada and to Benin with SIM. After doing 1 year of French studies at the University of Laval in Quebec City, we were off to Benin, West Africa with our 3 month old son, Jonathan! For the past 14 years Kim & I and our 3 boys have been serving with SIM in Benin, West Africa. Our main area of ministry lies in training national leaders so that they in turn can train others. It has been so rewarding to work alongside of the Beninese leaders and see them go deeper with God! Kim has been so blessed to see kids learn more about God as she assists national SS teachers in our local churches. She also teaches ESL part-time at our kids school. As well, for the past 6 years we have been working in our SIM business office and overseeing the proper function of our guesthouse. This has taught us much patience as we deal daily with corrupt and crooked government officials. God has opened the door on many occasions to share the liberating message of Christ to those in positions of influence. The door is wide open in Benin as its' Christian President openly asks for missionaries to come to his country! What an opportunity what a mandate!! |
